Hi there. My name is Alycia Skousen. I am #5 out of 6 children and lived my entire life in sunny Southern California until I got married in 2011. Now I live in Park City, Utah. I have a son, Ryan Litteral, born in 1988 who is a professional drift car racer in Formula Drift.
I love the outdoors with my favorite activities being rock climbing, canyoneering, hiking, camping and wildcrafting, or making herbal medicine or finding edibles from plants that grow naturally in the wild.
I can’t forget to mention my special companion, my Scottish Terrier, Sir Gavin MacArthur. He goes by Gavin. I love researching natural remedies for Gavin and his vet tells me that my efforts have truly lengthened his life.
I have always been a hard worker, industrious, resourceful and passionate about living life to its fullest. I truly believe that you can have everything in this live, we just have to pursue and embrace those things with no excuses.
I have always loved challenging myself to learn and grow personally. To understand and correct my thinking to achieve greater happiness and attract greater things and people in my life. I also love mentoring and teaching others, sharing and pulling from my own experiences and growth. But there is no greater joy than when I have seen the growth in others. The 12 step program has been invaluable to me in this process personal growth and mentoring others.
As a single mom in my early 20’s I worked hard to get my college education to provide financial stability for my son. Then I worked in public accounting in Los Angeles and Orange County, California for about 10 years, passed the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) exam and earned my CPA license. From there I worked in private industry and then provided consulting services in the area of financial reporting to private and publicly traded companies.
In 2008 I was tired of having a boss and wanted more quality of life and time freedom. So I started doing EDGAR filings and financial reporting services for publicly traded companies required to file with the Security and Exchange Commission. However, I just felt like I wasn’t fulfilling my life purpose.
I had a successful career in accounting but I felt like I had sacrificed my most important calling, being a mom, because of the huge time demands of the accounting profession in which I served. I was totally burned out on my CPA career and was having a difficult time continuing in this profession. I also felt like I was supposed to help and mentor others, especially women, as a result of my life experiences and my profession as an accountant wasn’t allowing for this in the way I felt I was supposed to. But what to do in my mid 40’s to bring in an income when I have invested so much time and money in a 20 year career?
In addition, I had gone through my entire savings due to a skiing accident and I had no retirement.
This is when a friend of mine introduced me to network marketing. I had been approached many times in the past by network marketers and I didn’t want to do sales like this and be labeled as “one of those people”. In fact it’s only because of the product my friend was introducing me to that I even tried a network marketing product. I told my friend that I would try his product. But if he ever mentioned the marketing to me I’d never talk to him again!
I had amazing results with the product! This experience allowed me to be more open to learning about the profession of network marketing. I was actually looking for another way to make money. I learned that I totally misunderstood network marketing. Network marketing is actually just a different channel for companies to move product and services. Instead of paying for advertisements, internal sales representatives and positioning in the market place, companies pay distributors to educate people on their product or services. Most importantly, network marketing is the profession of serving others, relationship building, personal development and leadership development. The side benefit is making an income only after I help others achieve their personal goals of time and financial freedom.
I love the profession of network marketing and I know I’ll never do anything else. This profession fulfills all my needs. I love helping people and watching them grow in this industry. I love the life-long relationships with quality people that are built. I love the time and financial freedom this profession offers. I love having residual income and the bright future this offers. No other retirement plan offers such a huge payout with so little upfront investment. Anyone who works hard and builds a home network marketing business on the side while they work their regular job will not only retire early, but will have the funds to live the life others only dream of.
And that friend who introduced me to this profession? Well, I married him and now we are both professional network marketers.
