It’s so easy to get caught up in the busy daily routines of life that we forget about living our life. Remember the dreams you had when you were young? Were you going to be a world traveler? Maybe make some big contribution to mankind? Perhaps you wanted to have a home in the mountains and another one by the ocean. You went to school and took your first job hoping this would help you realize your dreams.
As time passes, you gradually trade away your dreams for the demands of your employer, your family, your bills and a false sense of security. Before you know it you have settled into a mediocre life of compromise with no time, no financial security and a decreasing quality of health and lifestyle due to stress and the unhealthy habits you’ve adopted in order to deal with your mediocre life.
We all know how your story ends unless you choose to do something drastic! But it is possible to start living your dream if you dare to live it!
How To Start Living Your Dream
To start living your dream requires three steps. Underlying each step is the pursuit of your own happiness and dreams while helping others achieve theirs. As you grow and serve so does your advancement toward living your ideal lifestyle. First, you identify your dream. Then, you dare to boldly step out of your comfort zone, disrupting your life as you know it. Then finally, take action and whatever it takes to fulfill and live your dream by helping others live their dreams.
Identify Your Dream
To start living your dream you first have to identify what your dream is. Your dream needs to be bigger than you are. Your dream needs to give you that butterfly feeling in your stomach when you’re on a roller coaster. Think of all the possibilities you would do if time and money were not a factor. Do you want to run a marathon? Start a charity? Start your own business? Make a list of 100 things you want to do before you die. What if you only had six months to live? Many times this helps to tap into your dreams.
Dare To Disrupt Your Life
You can only fill your life with something better by creating a void and making room for it. Many times we settle for something below our potential because we compare it to having nothing. Instead, think in terms of what you have now is holding you back from your unlimited dreams and imagination.
If you feel along and scared you are probably on the right track!
The more you fear this step the more you must take this step. It’s when you take this leap of faith to start living your dreams that you begin to truly feel alive and start living the life your were meant to live.
Remember, staying in your comfort zone is easy, but greatness happens only when you escape it. Don’t be afraid. You have the courage to live your purpose!
Your lifestyle reflects the extent of your comfort zone.
Take Action And DO
The final step in living your dream is taking action every day to achieve your dream while you support others in achieving theirs.
- Visualize your dream and who you want to be as though you were already there.
- Believe in yourself and your dream.
- Associate and gain support from those who are more successful than you.
- Share your dream with a mentor.
- Ask for support from others.
- Be a mentor to someone else in pursuing their dreams.
- Identify five year, 12 month and 30 day goals toward reaching your dreams. Create action plans for each of these goals.
- Invest in yourself in time and money with personal development each and every day to develop the skills needed to achieve your dream. You will never be greater or accomplish more than the person you have become and the knowledge you have acquired first.
- Receive all that you currently have and all future inflows with a spirit of gratitude. You must be grateful for where and who you are before you will be given more.
- Donate to charity at least 10% of your increase.
- Do your part to make the world a better place for humanity.
You were born to live a life of abundance and to make a positive impact in this world. It is never too late to start living your dreams. Make a decision today to create something more for yourself and your posterity. You will not be alone. However, you must make the decisions on your own to disrupt your life. But this journey of living your dream will be the most adventurous, fulfilling and purposeful experience of your life. What is the legacy you want to leave behind?
