Success Comes Only By Mastering Habits
Today on Day 10 of your challenge you look at your habits. Do your habits support your desire to create a Level 10 life?
Your life is created by the habits you live by each day, whether they are positive or negative. A positive habit is one that supports your goal of becoming your best self to create a Level 10 life while a negative habit is one that holds you back from living and fulfilling your true potential.
The best way to get rid of a negative habit is to replace it with a positive one. Focusing on the positive habit can relieve your preoccupation on the negative habit.
Your quality of life is created by the quality of your habits.
To determine whether your habits are sustaining or inhibiting your Level 10 goals look at your results. A successful person has mastered those habits that sustain that support their level of success. A person not experiencing success has not committed to putting into place those habits that will support the results they want.
The difference between someone who is successful (the 5%) and one who chooses a mediocre life (the 95%) is that the successful person does the things that a mediocre person won’t.
The successful person may not necessarily like doing the things that sets them apart from the crowd, but they choose to do those things anyway because they are drawn toward the person they are becoming.
What sets the miracle morning routine apart?
Robert Kyosaki says that what sets the Miracle Morning routine apart from other morning rituals is that Miracle Morning is the only system that combines all 6 of the “success” core practices at once. These 6 daily practices are silence (prayer, meditation), affirmations, visualization, exercise, reading (self-improvement books) and scribing (journaling). Most people usually only do 1-3 of the success practices. This is why people who practice the Miracle Morning routine have accelerated results.
Creating And Mastering Your Habits
If you don’t master your habits your habits will master you.
How you start your day creates your mindset and the context for the rest of your day. If you don’t consistently make time for personal improvement, then your life will never improve and you will inevitably have to make time for pain and struggle.
Remember, you have to become more to receive more. As you go through your miracle morning routine, focus on the person you are becoming, not all the tasks you are doing.
The Three Phases To Habit Mastery
One of the reasons people fail at setting new productive habits is because they don’t know and anticipate the three phases of creating a habit. When you know what to expect and you create a supportive strategy you’ll be more likely to have success in creating new positive habits.
The Miracle Morning uses a 30-day period to implement a positive new habit, or to eliminate an old negative habit. Each phase is broken down into 10 day increments. The first 21 days, or phase 1 and 2, form your habit, while the critical third phase reinforces your habit.
Phase 1: Unbearable (Days 1-10)
The first 10 days that you begin a new habit or rid yourself of a negative one are the worst and can be almost unbearable. But this feeling is only temporary! Your mind and your body are rejecting the idea of getting up 1-2 hours early. The 95% average people will quit as soon as they feel discomfort. But you’re a 5%’er which means that you already know what quitting will get you and you have higher aspirations for yourself and your life. This phase is only 10 days and that’s a short, small sacrifice for the Level 10 life you are creating.
Phase 2: Uncomfortable (Days 11-20)
The second 10-day phase (days 11-20) of your habit mastery is the uncomfortable phase. This phase is better than the first, but still uncomfortable. It’s important that you stay disciplined and committed during this phase. You may be tempted to fall back into old habits like hitting the snooze button when the alarm goes off, but stay strong. You will gain growing confidence and experience the benefits of living your new positive habit, or removing the old negative one.
Phase 3: Unstoppable (Days 21-30)
Your final, third, phase consists of days 21-30. This is where you reinforce your habit to become unstoppable. You are experiencing the clarity, energy and other benefits from getting up early for your miracle morning routine. Be careful not to slip back during this phase. Phase three is where your actual transformation happens as your new habit becomes part of your identity. This is where your actions transcend from trying to your becoming.
The miracle morning is a life changing daily habit that will empower you to become the person you need to be to create the ideal Level 10 life you want.
