I give credit to this blog subject to Phoenix Sparks, an intelligent, gifted, witty, beautiful Millennial. When I asked her for a blog subject that she felt would be helpful to people, Phoenix came back with Spring Clean Your Life For Success, given the time of year when spring has just launched. What a great idea!
Spring Clean To Make Room For Success In Your Life
With Spring comes the promise of new beginnings. There is a new, vibrancy of energy that can be felt all around. The days begin getting longer, new life is born, trees and plants have their new growth, and blossoms are blooming with magical scents that energize us. NOW is the time to tap into that vibrant energy and take action to declutter your life to make room for what you really want in your life.
In my blog post, Make Room For Success In Your Life, I talk about Jack Canfield’s step in his book, The Success Principles: How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be, of “clearing up the messes and incompletes”. This step focuses on the fact that you cannot be completely freed to embrace your present and maximize your potential when you have not completed your past . In order to make room in your life for more blessings of success, or progressing toward the path of your true potential, you must first empty those things you no longer need, that no longer serve you or that are holding you back from your true potential.
Tips for life success: spring clean and refocus
Here are some suggestions that will help you release the burdens, attitudes and limiting behavior that is holding you back, opening you up to receive and pursue a life of abundance and promise.
Stop dwelling on the past. You can’t change the past. Everything that happened in the past was necessary to bring you to this point of change in your life. There are no such things as mistakes, just learning and growth opportunities. The only thing you can change is your future. Until you accept your past and let it go of it you won’t be able to move forward and live the abundant life your were intended to.
Forgive yourself. We are the hardest on ourselves. You are your own best friend and worse enemy. Be more merciful to yourself. Start loving yourself. Each day write down those things that you like about yourself and what others like about you. Read this list each day.
Visualize the life you want and the person you want to become. Visualization exercises are very powerful. Do visualization exercises each morning. With this exercise close your eyes and bring in as many of the senses as you can while you imagine your ideal life. This exercise helps to unlock the law of attraction principles where like energies attract, your thoughts become your reality and you will attract like-minded people into your life. For example, if all you think about is bills and how much you lack, you will continue to be in a mental state of deficiency you will never get ahead financially. Likewise, if you focus on a state of abundance and prosperity your life will begin to manifest a life of abundance. Read more about the law of attraction in my blog by clicking here.
Declutter your mind. Are you feeling stressed and overwhelmed? Download everything you have to get done by writing them down on a large tablet of paper. This is your master brain dump list. Add to this list through each day. Using a dump list will help free your mind for more important things like getting these things done and focusing on those things that will bring about the life you want to have. See time management about how you will use your dump list to get things done and have a more balanced, accomplished life.
Time management. Everything you do in life either gets you closer or takes you farther away from what you really want. You cannot manage time but you manage yourself and how you use this precious limited resource. The brain works best in 50 minute intervals. So set a timer for 1 hour and at the 50 minute mark take quick 5-10 minute break. You will find that you will be more productive in those 50 minutes.
Prioritize your day for success.
From your master dump list go through and prioritize your list according
to Covey’s time management matrix, giving them a rank of (1) Urgent (Manage) (2) Not Urgent (Focus) (3) Appear Urgent But Not (Delegate), and (4) Not Urgent/Not Important (time wasters – DUMP). From this master dump list go through and rank them from 1-4. Schedule these items throughout your week, placing 1-3 #1 Urgent items each day. You must do the Urgent things first before you can do the less important tasks. Just prioritizing your list and gradually completing them will give you a sense of accomplishment and free you up to do those things that will work for your future. The goal is to live mostly in the #2 quadrant. Remember, you live the life you create based on your choices.
Self improvement. Each day take 15-30 minutes to read, listen or watch something that will help you think and become that person who will achieve that dream lifestyle.
Daily exercise and nutrition. Your physical health and nutrition have a direct impact on your mental and spiritual state. We all know that exercising and eating regular, balanced meals is important for us, but many people put exercise and healthy eating as a last priority. However, regular daily exercise will increase your natural state of energy allowing you to get more things done. Exercise also clears the brain and releases endorphins giving you more focus, and an elated, better overall sense of well being.
To make your day more efficient you can listen to audio books or inspiring talks while you exercise.
Make sure you eat those foods that are high in nutrition, low in sugars and minimize your caffeine intake. Having 3-5 small meals is best with your last meal being small and before 6 pm. I’ll talk more about nutrition in another blog.
Daily gratitude. Start each day listing in your mind those things that you are grateful for. Keep a gratitude journal where you write 3 new things that you’re grateful for each day. You will be amazed at how your perspective becomes more positive and abundant. Also, when something during the day gets you discouraged or frustrated take a minute to start listing the things you are thankful for. This has helped me see things in better perspective and helped me determine those things that are worth my energy and those things I need to let go of.
Consistent actions are keys to success in life. If you apply these ideas that I’ve listed here on a consistent basis you will find that you have a more balanced quality life with a happier, more hopeful perspective on what you can achieve and become in your life. If you get off track it’s okay. Just come back and start working these idea steps again. Just don’t quit. Make this a life-time growth process. You can achieve anything you put your cleared mind to.
